The Friends of the Bend Libraries (FOBL) Book Sales team seeks volunteers. We're a 501(c)(3) non-profit that raises funds for Bend's two libraries (about $25,000/year). Funds are used primarily for programs related to childhood literacy; some also go toward expanding the Library's book collections. Over the years, FOBL has raised $200,000 for the Bend Library System. The community loves FOBL sales as most books sell for just $1.00.

Volunteers meet for typically 2-3 hours each week (Wednesday evenings or Saturdays). We receive and open boxes of donated books, CDs, DVDs, etc. and organize and shelve items in preparation for our quarterly book sales. Volunteers, if interested, can also help out at sales.
Beginning on July 1, we'll move into a vacant 1,600 sq. ft. modular classroom located on at Ponderosa Elementary School (3790 NE Purcell). We will hold a book sale on Sat. July 20 and Sun. July 21. In the meantime, we have hundreds of boxes of books that must be unpacked and shelved.
Benefits of volunteering include the ability to buy books between sales at their marked price (limit 12/week), meeting new people and, perhaps most importantly, encouraging reading and literacy in people of all ages.
