We are a small, local tipi manufacturer, and we are looking for a jr. Production Manager as an assistant to our Production Manager, who will most probably move out of the area within the next 6-12 months. We are looking for longterm commitment and the eagerness to move into the role of the Production Manager who has sole responsibility of receiving the fabric, cutting it into bundles for the seamstresses, scheduling seamstress workloads, as well as shipping finished orders, cutting ropes into specific length coils, assembling accessories and ordering supplies.
We are looking for a person who is used to manual labor, who enjoys working in a small team, and who is strong enough to frequently carry around fabric rolls that are 80 lbs heavy, 36" wide - Who can carry, pack and ship tipi orders, order, receive and stack away supplies and unload poles if we receive a pole order. This is a physical job and you will be on your feet all day long.
You will be sharing the workspace with the painting crew, who paints on the floor while you might be cutting on the cutting table. It is a friendly, cooperative work environment where everyone gets on well with each other.
You will receive paid vacation days depending on the total hours worked per month and you are eligible for a 401(k) retirement plan with a 6% match once you worked for 1000 hrs. We do not offer health insurance. Also, our workshop is smoke free and smoking / vaping or the use of recreational drugs is not allowed on the premise. We appreciate your understanding.
This job is marked as a full time job at the beginning, as there is a lot to learn, but full-time at the moment is around 30hr - 33hrs depending on workload. The amount of work fluctuates depending on orders and over time, working hours become more flexible and can be adapted to your needs. We cannot guarantee a 37-40hr work week year around, though. The months of October-February can get slow, depending on order volume.
Computer proficiency is necessary, ideally you have worked with customer relations/manufacturing systems (we use MrPeasy) and Shipping software (we use UPS).
