Very scarce antique Marshall Wells Co. Saw Vise. It is used to hold a saw firmly while work is done to the blade. This vise works great. It has a clamp for mounting on a bench and a lever which is used to quickly lock and unlock the vise holding the saw (or any flat object such as sheet metal or tin plate), allowing for quick repositioning of the saw. It is 11-1/2 inches wide. (Note: The saw pictured is not included in this sale.) This saw vise was manufactured in the USA and has patent dates of 1912 and 1913. Marshall Wells Co. existed from 1884 to 1960 and at the time was based in Hartford.
