FIRST: Due to the way Craigslist promotes listings "from nearby areas", we have often gotten responses from hundreds of miles away. This listing originates in the BEND OREGON region (Redmond, Bend, Prineville, Sisters, Madras). If you are outside that region (Portland, Seattle, etc.) and are interested in the project, you are still free to contact us, as we will be considering a few more trips into those areas to gather interviews when the weather warms up, but we cannot make any guarantees outside Central Oregon at this time. And now, the ad:
----------
Local film-maker Brian Johnson is in production with his first feature film, "The Better Body Starter Kit For Men", a documentary to motivate more men to get off the couch and into a healthier life. The first interview was filmed two years ago, we've had a great time gathering three dozen interviews in 2024 and 2025; and the goal is to finish all filming and editing by the end of 2026, so time is running out to join the project! In fact, this is the last time we will be posting in Central Oregon!
One element of the film will be interviews with men who are currently pursuing improved fitness. We're looking for:
• Males of all ages (minimum 16 years old, and 16-17 will need parental signature) who are:
• Pro-actively engaged in one or more facets of improving physical fitness -- workouts, sports training, calisthenics, cardio-vascular exercise, weight-loss diet, muscle-gain diet, or even just going for a walk every morning.
• Across a wide spectrum of body types, goals, and methods: From lifelong competitive bodybuilders to casual joggers who just want to get rid of the Dad Bod; skilled athletes to average guys; strong beasts and weak wannabes. Runners, joggers, powerlifters, hikers, swimmers, weightlifters, football players, martial artists, and more.
And we want to stress this: We are NOT looking for The Perfect Body! Yes, we have interviewed men just weeks away from entering a bodybuilding competition who look flawless, but we've also interviewed: A 60-something whose goal at this point in his life is to go for a five-mile walk every day; a 400-pound man looking to lose weight, a military veteran in his 50's who was told he'd never walk again and now he's preparing for a marathon, and at least two men who are alive today because they cured their despair by turning to a life of exercise and fitness. We are looking for ANY men who are ANYWHERE in the process of pursuing better fitness, for ANY reason! [See some special requests at the end of this listing.]
As long as your pursuit is an improved body in some way, we'd like to talk to you!
Interviews won't take any longer than about half an hour; most will probably be shorter. These will appear here and there throughout the film in brief soundbites, so questions will be aimed at eliciting short and simple answers.
We come to you for the interviews: Your living room, a garage gym if you have one, your favorite jogging trail -- whatever allows you to feel comfortable, and bonus points if the setting is relevant to your personal methods and goals. There is no big film crew; it's just the director with his camera, microphone, and lights.
And yes, the long-term goal is worldwide availability/distribution for this film, so take that into consideration before volunteering. Do you want your answers (and your face) seen potentially by anyone in the world?
This is a non-paying post, and there is no guarantee your interview will end up in the final edit of the film. But all interviewees who do end up in the film will have their names in the end credits and will receive a digital copy of the film. (DVDs may be available depending on demand at the time.)
If this interests you, send us a message with any questions, or for more information, or to simply dive in and say yes.
PS: Every time we post, we receive a few responses that go silent and never follow up. We will reply to ALL who contact us, so if you don't see a message from us within a couple of days, check your spam box. Also consider e-mailing us directly instead of through the Craigslist relay.
Check us out at BBSKforMen.com and watch the embedded video on the home page for a quick glimpse into the interview content we have and are seeking more of!

Special Requests: We would like to add to our collection of interviews some very specific types, to learn more about what they do to stay fit for their occupations. If you are in the following occupations and your job requires you to maintain a certain level of fitness or pass certain fitness tests (or even if not required but you maintain your fitness so that you can do your job better), please consider letting us interview you about it:
• Firefighter
• Policeman
• Paramedic
• Lifeguard
• Security Team
• Military
And if you think your occupation should be on that list, let us know that, too!
