“Gibson Custom guitars are limited-edition re-creations of prized vintage Gibsons. From their Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee, Gibson's skilled luthiers hand-build these collector-quality electric guitars using meticulous craftsmanship, premium materials, and historical accuracy. Additional processes are implemented to enhance the build quality, such as specialized binding treatments and the use of high-quality glues and finishes. The result is an instrument that feels and performs like a vintage classic, but with the reliability and precision of modern manufacturing.”
I bought this 2007 Non-Reverse Firebird in 2011 that had apparently never been seriously played, because the intonation had not been fine-tuned and it had that brand-new feel and look. The Gibson cord and polishing cloth had never been unpacked. I have used the cloth a couple of times, but never the cord. An 18-year-old Gibson cord in its original packaging has got to be a rarity! There are other items including a Care Guide booklet, instructions for bridge adjustment, and an instruction pamphlet for truss rod adjustment plus a steel tool for doing that. The thick leather strap that I had custom made for me and this guitar by a two-brother, Bend leather business is included; it could be shortened but not lengthened.
I have enjoyed playing this guitar minimally for a few rockier songs, and it has never left my property. It has had string tension probably for not more than a year in the past fourteen. The Grover pegs are a huge improvement over the Gibson pegs in the original 1960’s release which I once owned (and why I bought this Firebird). It has great action and because of its single-coil pickups, an edgy-crisp audio quality that is meant for rock & roll!
The serial number is CS-71714. A 2007 identical model with a close serial number was listed on eBay at $3,600 + $207 Ohio sales tax + $89 shipping for a total price of $3,896. Noticeable wear can be seen at the “D” chord in the photos of that Firebird. The seller grades that axe at excellent; based on the fretboard wear, I would probably grade it at 7 to 8 on a 10-point scale.
This Firebird is in better condition with barely visible wear on the fretboard’s high strings at the third through fifth frets, a lightening of the varnish color on the back of the neck at the top, and very light scuffs on the pick guard and lower pickup. This guitar’s condition is “excellent plus,” a 9; the case is “like new,” a 10. I have not lost the combination.
I gave this beautiful instrument a meticulous but gentle, soap-only cleaning in getting it ready for sale. I put on new DR Legend flat-wound strings and checked the bridge height and intonation. This baby is ready to rock! The price is $2,900 in cash or as an in-person transfer at my credit union.
If the buyer is interested and they have not been sold, I will lower the price on the two Kustom PA speaker cabinets that I have for sale in a CL ad from $275 to $200.
