Entry Level Family Law/Civil Law Legal Assistant at Baxter Harder

Baxter Harder is a cutting edge and rapidly growing law firm located in beautiful Bend, OR. We are in need of a driven, committed, and proactive Family Law/Civil Law Legal Assistant. The Family Law/Civil Law Legal Assistant will work under the direction of the firm's attorneys, office manager and executive paralegals. The ideal candidate for this position is fun, outgoing, a dynamic team player, organized, professional, responsible, able to adapt quickly in our fast-paced environment, able to meet tight deadlines, and motivated to help others.


Take direction from the Firm's attorneys, office manager and executive paralegals.
Field phone calls from the Firm's clients, court staff, opposing attorneys, adverse parties, and other persons or entities as necessary.
Draft basic family law and other legal documents utilizing Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Meet multiple deadlines on a daily basis.
Establish and maintain case files.
Schedule client meetings.
Organize discovery.
Draft basic legal correspondence and pleadings.
Calendar court dates and deadlines.
Help attorney prepare for Mediation and/or Trial

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Two-year degree a plus.
Legal experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Strong communication and organizational skills necessary.
Ability to shift gears quickly and frequently.
Team-oriented individual with excellent customer service skills and ability to work independently.
Proficiency with macOS is helpful.

Compensation is DOE. We offer full benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. This position is to be full-time with the opportunity for advancement. The start date would begin once a qualified candidate is found and proper notice is given.
