Mountain Sky, Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Fencing Foreman to join our team! The Fencing Foreman is responsible for leading a crew and performing the installation and repairs of fencing and gates across multiple jobs/projects.
DUTIES:
Fencing Operations
• Direct fence construction activities on and off the jobsite including hands-on work.
• Dig postholes using spades, posthole diggers, or digging bars.
• Set metal or wooden posts in upright positions in postholes.
• Load, unload, and move materials by hand for all types of fencing.
• Embed posts by mixing and pouring concrete or tamping soil into postholes.
• Make fence rails by sawing lumber or cutting metal to required lengths.
• Adhere fence rails to posts using fasteners or slots.
• Stretch wire, wire mesh, or chain link fencing between posts, attach fencing to frames.
• Attach fence rail supports to posts using hammers and pliers.
• Align posts using lines or by sighting; verify vertical alignment of posts using plumb bobs or spirit levels.
• Assemble gates and fasten gates into position using hand tools.
• Communicate production goals with crew members and clients and provide progress updates to clients and management.
• Safely, effectively, and efficiently operate fence construction equipment including but not limited to truck/trailer, skid steer, front loader, mini excavator, and power auger.
• Set fenceposts in concrete with the assistance of ready-mix truck.
• Read, understand, and apply construction plans and specification documents.
• Measure and lay out fence lines and mark posthole positions according to instructions, drawings, and/or specifications.
• Serve as a point of contact for client correspondence and communication; maintain client satisfaction, including handling complaints and feedback professionally.
• Proficiently utilize company software for the completion of work orders and recording job-related notes.
• Complete on-the-job training as specified by the Fencing Division Manager.
• Train crew members on the development in best practices of fence construction.
• Read and understand grade stakes and elevations.
• Transport, set up, and remove temporary fencing on various jobsites.
• Direct crews in completion of work assigned by the Fencing Division Manager.
• Maintain positive vendor relationships; purchase job materials as authorized by Fencing Division Manager.
• Accurately track and record all job expenses and hours worked; report all purchases to Fencing Division Manager.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and organization including vehicles, tools, and machinery.
• Participate in snow removal services during winter months (i.e. manual snow shoveling).
• Other duties as assigned.
Manage Time, Quality, & Productivity
•Review projects to determine budget guidelines, staffing and equipment placements, and create a working plan to keep projects on time and on budget.
• Oversee the preparation of jobsites prior to the beginning of a project. This may include but is not limited to:
- Calling utility locating services, establishing and updating schedules, creating delivery timelines, and staging products for installation.
- Planning take-offs and accurately calculating the materials and resources needed to complete landscape construction projects.
• Execute critical thinking skills and manage field adjustments to ensure timely project completion.
• Meet with subcontractors and supervise quality, efficiency, and deadlines.
• Manage and complete paperwork and/or paperless communication with Landscape Division Manager and administrative staff in a timely manner.
• Set/maintain high standards of work quality and serve as a positive example for the crew.

REQUIREMENTS:
• 5+ years fencing construction experience.
• 5+ years supervisory experience.
• Bilingual - English and Spanish. (preferred)
• Willing to participate in a drug-free work environment.
• Valid Oregon driver license with a clean driving record.
• Capable of lifting 75+ pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand and move for extended periods of time.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills; ability to work under pressure and accomplish tight deadlines.
• Ability to work outdoors in all seasonal temperatures and conditions, including exposure to extreme weather.
• Ability to work during all operating hours, including nights and weekends as required.
• Experience maneuvering and loading/unloading a truck and trailer.
• Be able to efficiently use material provided to build all types of fences and gates.
• Expertise in the use of hand tools and power tools.
• Verifiable heavy equipment operating expertise including front end loaders, mini excavators, and skid steers with various attachments; able to operate other construction equipment as needed.
• Expert knowledge and experience in installing a variety of fencing and gates including but not limited to wood, metal, chain link, ornamental iron, field fence.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Experience reading grade stakes and elevations.
• Available to work out of town when needed.
• Welding experience. (preferred)
