We are seeking an experienced maintenance and operations liaison to provide technical engineering and project management support for the maintenance and operation of Oregon's highways within the region.

This position works with ODOT maintenance crews, district staff, project delivery staff, stakeholders, landowners and the public to help coordinate activities and resources to meet budgetary constraints of immediate and long-term needs.

Additional Details
  • This position is represented by the Association of Engineering Employees of Oregon (AEE).
  • This position may work out of Bend, The Dalles or Klamath Falls, depending on the needs of the successful candidate.




  • Develop contracts, solicit bids, verify eligibility, assist in awarding contract and administer maintenance level projects.
  • Serve as a liaison to the ODOT business lines on project scoping teams, project development teams, and other related processes.
  • Provide technical expertise and develop conceptual designs, preliminary drawings, cost estimates, and related research, alignment, geometrics, property ownership, deeds and potential recommendations.
  • Prepare requests for information (RFI), requests for proposal (RFP), statements of work, and work orders for contracts.
  • Negotiate scopes of work with engineering firms.
  • Review development proposals.


Working Conditions
  • Competing demands, long hours, flexible hours and occasional on-call 24/7, including holidays.
  • May be in contact with hostile contractors or the public.
  • Subject to extreme hazards of traffic and construction equipment.
  • Drive in all weather conditions, including storms, snow, ice, and rain.
  • Requires some travel and may require overnight stays.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. of equipment and materials.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and traverse uneven terrain.


Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, surveying or transportation-related engineering.
  • Four (4) years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience.
  • Seven (7) years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience.

    Two (2) years of this experience must have been independently planning and completing assignments in drafting, field or laboratory inspection, construction contract administration, surveying, materials testing, or traffic investigations.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.


Special Qualifications
  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers' license and acceptable driving record.
