Heavy, sturdy black steel bed frame. Legs are 2.5" X 1", frame itself is 2.5" deep steel and it has many cross supports as well as a center support leg and15" of storage space underneath. You don't need a box springs with this type of a frame; just put your mattress directly on it. You can buy it as is, totally assembled, or I can take it all apart for you.
