1983 Rolls-Royce Corniche I Drop Head Coupe was ordered by the selling Rolls-Royce dealer November 16, 1981 and took a year and a half for coach builder Mulliner Park Ward to hand build this Corniche before delivery to the original Owner May 26,1983.
[Mulliner Park Ward was a coachbuilder formed as a subsidiary by Rolls-Royce in 1961 to supply it custom hand built bodywork for its automobiles. Located in Hythe Road, Willesden, London, it was created by merging two existing Rolls-Royce properties, Park Ward of Willesden, London, a subsidiary since 1939.]
I have the original Owner Books and RR Shop Service Manual, selling Rolls Royce dealer purchase order and delivery inspection documents thru all Rolls Royce dealer service records.
NOTE: Attached pictures were taken before the car was serviced and detailed!!!
Attached CARFAX confirms the miles are true and 47 pages of Rolls-Royce dealer service records given me evidence all services were kept up to date before the car was acquired by The Park Ward Motors Museum, who sold it June 27, 2024 to the Beverly Hills, California family I purchased it from about a year ago on October 15, 2024 on grounds and for reasons: The elder family member who purchased the Corniche from the Park Ward Motors Museum on June 27, 2024, broke his back in an accident and could no longer drive.
I've put over a couple thousand miles on this Corniche driving back and forth to Bend sorting the car out to insure everything electrical, mechanical and hydraulic is sound and working as it should...The A/C blows ice cold! I've flushed the engine, fuel and hydraulic/brake systems and changed all fluids with Rolls-Royce recommended synthetic oils to insure the engine performs as it should. I've also flushed all the old brake fluid out of the brake lines and calipers and replaced with Rolls-Royce recommended fluids to insure the dual brake system performs as it should. This year Corniche is fitted with the Rolls-Royce Spirit/Spur series mineral oil hydraulics providing the more advanced system configuration and the later dash, along with other design improvements and upgrades as seen with the introduction of Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit and Spur. Furthermore, I've also drained the old fuel out of the gas tank and replaced the fuel filter, replaced the electric fuel pump and related fuel injection system components that Rolls Royce recommends time frame replacement to reduce risk of fuel system contamination. The engine has just been flushed, filters replaced, spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap and rotor replaced, and transmission has just been serviced with new filters and fluids.
NOTE: There are sixteen all metal original BOSCH relays that manage the electronics in this Corniche...The main original BOSCH starter relay failed on me, so I've replaced all sixteen metal relays with solid state epoxy sealed ECHLIN relays to insure reliability.
This is a really nice, only 36,468 true miles, factory original, garage kept, Rolls-Royce dealer serviced, 1983 Rolls-Royce Corniche I Drop Head Coupe that shows, runs and drives great! I'd say overall this Corniche is a solid 9 out of 10 and is a reliable daily driver...
UPDATE: Last Monday 12-22-2025. I delivered the car to Red Hot Interiors in Bend to install the new, best quality RED canvas soft top available to match the RED body pin stripes and RED leather piping on the seats, GRAY headliner and factory style reproduction Wood Bow and Factory style reproduction Wood Tacking strips. Red Hot Interiors quoted me for best quality materials ($2,817 Canvas Soft Top, $2,114 Head Liner and $4,200 installation labor = $9,131 plus costs for new Wood Bow and Wood Tacking Strips and trunk carpet kit, put my costs close to $11,000 See, attached invoice). The trunk area has also been detailed, I replaced the battery with a new larger group deep cycle battery, topped off the convertible top pump with Rolls Royce specified mineral fluid, and comes with the original Rolls-Royce Corniche Owners Books, tool kit and tire changing jack kit.
After the new headliner and convertible top are installed. I will have the Corniche professionally detailed (the paint deep cleaned - polished out and ceramic coated).
NOTE: I will take 24 new pictures and post them to this ad as soon as the new top is installed and the car has been detailed...
NOTE PRICE INCREASE: Because I've now committed to investing considerable additional time, money and resources to dial in this rare example of Corniche-I, to recover my expenses my Sale Price is firm at $79,995. Which frankly is the best deal Nation-wide on this condition one of one Corniche-I drop head coupe!
Keep in mind: The mechanical and electrical systems in this Corniche are not complex and not computer controlled requiring dealership only service... Any "old school" mechanically inclined person should be able to maintain and service this Corniche! I'm including a new Rolls-Royce WORKSHOP MANUAL which details most everything one should know to maintain this Corniche as Rolls-Royce intended.
My reason for selling: I bought this Corniche to tow in an enclosed trailer behind my Beaver coach...However, I'm selling because I'm faced with the realization my adult European Doberman VA Service Dogs, if left alone in the Corniche would probable chew on the leather like they have my leather furniture at home and my new Silverado truck...
BRIEF HISTORY ROLLS-ROYCE CORNICHE I (1971–1987):
The Corniche I, was available as coupé or convertible, used the standard Rolls-Royce V8 engine with an aluminum-silicon alloy block and aluminum cylinder heads with cast iron wet cylinder liners. The bore was 4.1 in (104.1 mm) and the stroke was 3.9 in (99.1 mm) for a total of 6.75 L (6,750 cc/411 cu in). Twin SU carburetors were initially fitted, but were replaced with a single Solex 4A1 four-barrel carburetor introduced in 1977. De-smoged export models retained the twin SUs until 1980, when Bosch fuel injection was added.
A three-speed automatic transmission (a Turbo Hydramatic 400 sourced from General Motors) was standard. A four-wheel independent suspension with coil springs was augmented with a hydraulic self-levelling system (using the same system as did Citroën, but without pneumatic springs, and with the hydraulic components built under license by Rolls-Royce), at first on all four, but later on the rear wheels only. Four-wheel disc brakes were specified, with ventilated discs added for 1972.
The car originally used a 119.75 in (3,042 mm) wheelbase. This was extended to 120 in (3,048 mm) in 1974 and 120.5 in (3,061 mm) in 1979. The Corniche was different from other Silver Shadows in that it had exclusive half wheel covers with stainless steel trim (for brake cooling), a 3-spoke steering wheel with a wood rim, and Rolls Royce's first standard tachometer.
The Corniche immediately became a status symbol for celebrities upon its release. Paul McCartney, Frank Sinatra and Tom Jones all bought one. David Bowie, Michael Caine, Elton John and Dean Martin put their names on two-year-long waiting lists. It has been seen in countless films and television shows from Beverly Hills, 90210 to Dynasty, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels to The Player.
The Corniche received a mild restyling in the spring of 1977. Difference included rack-and-pinion steering, alloy and rubber bumpers, aluminum radiator, oil cooler and a bi-level air conditioning system was added. Later changes included a modified rear independent suspension in March 1979. In March 1981, after the Silver Spirit had gone on sale, the fixed-roof version of the Corniche and its Bentley sister were discontinued. For 1985 there were also cosmetic and interior changes.
Corniche models received Bosch KE/K-Jetronic fuel injection in 1977. This engine, called the L410I, produced approximately 240 PS (177 kW; 237 hp) at just above 4,000 rpm for a top speed of 190 km/h (118 mph).
The Bentley version was updated in July 1984 with a new name, the Continental, revised and color-coded bumpers, rear view mirrors, a new dash and improvements to the seats.
Production totaled 1090 Rolls-Royce Corniche Saloons, 3239 Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertibles, 69 Bentley Corniche Saloons and 77 Bentley Corniche Convertibles.
We are located 60 miles South East of La-Pine on the Christmas Valley Airport...to schedule a time to see this Corniche and purchase, please e-mail or text/call me at show contact info

1983 Rolls-Royce Corniche 2 Door Convertible Values
Prices shown are the prices you can expect to pay for a 1983 Rolls-Royce Corniche 2 Door Convertible across different levels of condition:
During the sixteen year production run, Rolls-Royce only produced Corniche Drop Head Coups that's 202 per year. On close inspection, you can tell this Corniche I has been garage kept and not driven in Winter weather conditions, the interior still smells of fine leather, with a new head liner, soft top and fresh detail, all justify the reasonable $79,995 asking price!
NOTE: I just drove the car to the store and as you can see from the attached picture, at about 70 MPH there are no service soon lights on and everything looks great!
NOTE: The interior is in exceptional condition! The wood trim doesn't have any cracks in the varnish because this car spent mot of its life in a climate controlled garage! The paint on top of the quarter panels at one time cracked and some dumb ass attempted to mask the paint cracks by use of a small touch up brush... A professional painter needs to sand down the tough up job and clear coat spot the area.
