The Bend Golf and Country Club is hosting an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course in February. This course provides participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to all aquatic emergencies. As a participant you will receive hands-on, quality training on both land and in the water. Those who successfully complete the American Red Cross certification requirements will be issued a lifeguarding certification (including CPR/AED and First Aid) at the end of the course. The certification is valid for 2 years.
To participate in the course, you will need to meet the following pre-requisites:
Must be 15 years old by the completion of the class (February, 26th 2016).
Must pass the pre-course swimming skills test:
o Continuously swim 300 yards using a combination of freestyle and breaststroke
o Swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10-pound weight from the deep end of the pool, return to the starting place with the weight at the water surface, and exit the pool without using the ladder within 1 minute 40 seconds
o Tread water without hands for 2 minutes
The participant must be on time and attend 100% of class sessions. No make-up classes are offered.

Friday February 24th: 4:00-9:00pm
Saturday February 25th: 10:00-7:00
Sunday February 26th: 10:00-4:00
