I have a Freedom 17 canoe kit from Noah's Marine. There's a total of 80 beaded and coved 3/4"x1/4" Western red cedar strips (40@19.5', 16@18.5' and 24@17.5'). It will take about 55 strips to build the Freedom 17, so there is plenty of extra strips. The kit also includes the inside and outside gunnels in cherry wood. Note the inside gunnels have the cutouts for the scuppers. I have also formed the stems around the bow and stern sections. All 17 forms are included as well as a complete set of drawings and the instruction manual. I've also included the popular book Canoecraft. This kit is brand new. The kit does not include the fiberglass cloth, the epoxy resin and the glue. For an additional $200 I will include the seats, yoke and decks all complete and made out of curly maple. Noah's Marine lists the complete kit at $2,230 plus $600 - 800 for shipping. Building a strip canoe is not difficult. The hardest steps are making the strips and cutting out the forms which is already done. Better than any book is the Youtube series by "A Guy Doing Stuff" where Adam has done 18 clips that take you through all the steps. I built my first canoe following these videos and it came out just fine.
