This is a real one, not the kind with the little holes in it. It has a solid wood case and is pretty heavy. Comes with the brackets for hanging, 6 darts (one has a missing plastic tab). Besides the one dart it is in excellent condition. It says Sportcraft Taverner on it whatever that means.

We have only used it a handful of times and don't have a gameroom, so no use hanging onto it! They are beat. They are tired and worn. If I had to make this locomotive run reliably, I could probably fix it. However, I did not purchase this set just to fix it. I purchased it expecting it to be a running, reliable train. The seller did not seem interested when I commented on the condition, and I did not complain too seriously to the seller out of FEAR OF BAD FEEDBACK!

The locomotive runs, but runs poorly. A previous owner attempted a series of modifications to the locomotive and did a piss-poor job of it. A speaker was installed, however it does not function. It seems the previous owner took delight in scarring this locomotive with a soldering gun, and attempted some sort of mechanical "repair" in the metal framework. As a result, the locomotive runs very roughly. Do not expect reliable performance without putting in some work on this machine.

The cars are in similar shape. From the outside they appear ok, although dusty. A previous owner installed an interior lighting system with electrical pick-ups on the metal wheels. This installation was poorly done. One of the cars is also equipped with LED end marker lights. The lighting system functioned when I last tried it, however it is not ideal. This lighting can be cleaned up and properly adjusted to nicely light this train.

Märklin manufactures very high quality model trains, and these items are no exception to this. While they have been seriously abused, the bones of the models are still there. These items can be cleaned and repaired to give good service in the future, or they can be used for parts to aid other ailing models. These models date from the 1980s.

This set is in a well used condition. It was purchased off EBay a few years ago and used only slightly since. Condition is the same as when I first received it.

The transformer functions perfectly. The locomotive runs, but develops connection problems and starts to falter. New motor brushes may solve this issue. Aside from this operation issue, the locomotive is in decent shape. The cars are likewise in decent shape, given their age.

This set was purchase with the intent of including the track and rolling stock in an outdoor garden railway. Priorities have changed, and the railway will not be built, so this set will have to find a new home. My intent was to convert this able little engine to digital operation using one of Märklin's digital conversion kits. Märklin model trains are of very high quality. I have no doubt that this locomotive can be cleaned and resturned to full operation.

The tank car is highly detailed with steel wheels and sprung buffers. Delicate railings, detailed labeling and rivets accentuate the realism. This car can accommodate the realistic hook and turn buckle couplers used on real railroads in Europe today.

The stop blocks include a functioning marker light and sprung buffers. They can be clipped to the tracks at any location and include a formed hole in their framework for securing the blocks firmly to a layout with a screw.

The switches are manual throw switches. The switch arm can be removed and installed on the opposite side of the track.

The building kit is for a side line freight depot. The kit is highly detailed and completely intact, unbuilt. Pictorial instructions are included. Decals are also included, however they were exposed to water. They may not stick properly. The box for the kit shows water damage. The track, stop blocks and tank car were never exposed to water and are in excellent condition.

The set is packed in its original styrofoam packaging. The original cardboard box was damaged beyond repair. The set is packed in a double thickness cardboard box.

The low side gondolas are also highly detailed with sprung buffers and built in chocks for the included Volkswagen vehicles.

All cars have individual running numbers, sprung buffers and metal wheels. These cars will accept the realistic hook and turn buckle couplers in use on real European railroads today.

Included are 2 Volkswagen Beetles and a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. All VWs are highly detailed, including sprung suspension, detailed engine compartments and steering. The vehicles are cast metal with plastic parts.

Both locomotives are digitally controlled by the included Mobile Station. Locomotives can be controlled simultaneously and independently. Sound effects including engine sounds, whistles, horns and approach bells are digitally controlled, as are the headlights. Diesel locomotive has 3 white lights and 2 red lights at each end which change over with the direction of travel. Steam locomotive has 3 white lights at each end which change over with the direction of travel. Steam locomotive has built-in smoke unit which is digitally controlled. The locomotives have metal frames and wheels with plastic bodies.

Set is in excellent shape and is completely functional. Rarely used. No damage or wear to any pieces except for the original exterior cardboard box. The original box was damaged beyond repair and is replaced with a double thickness cardboard box around the original Styrofoam packaging.

Original manuals and Styrofoam packaging included. Of special note: this set was originally imported from Europe through a certified Märklin dealer. The original 230 Volt Transformer was substituted for a US 110 V transformer, which is included (catalog #6001).

Geo Trax are one of the coolest toys for young ones. Easy for little hands to work with and put together, yet tough enough to withstand those same little hands;)

As you can see in the pictures, there is enough track, bridges, tunnels, buildings, switchbacks, people, gadgets, and everything else to cover an entire good sized living or play area. There are a total of 5 trains with remotes for the entire family to have them all going at once. One is a fire engine, one is a rocket, one is a monorail type train, 2 are regular locomotive type trains.
