Silat is very different from other martial arts... it does not look like karate, tae kwon do, jiu jitsu or any other traditional path of martial arts available in america... it has no connection to chinese systems of kung fu... although these traditions have many blessings on their paths... Silat is quite distinct...

True Silat is rare in America.. and outside of Indonesia... its cultural inheritance or Puskah is even rarer still... there are only a handful of truly authentic Silat Teachers in America...

there are no tournaments or conventional sparring or katas, in Silat due to its no nonsense approach... its not about grown men at play or sport... rather it is a way of life that prepares one to survive one or simultaneous lethal attacks... it is better to have this type of knowledge and not need it than to need it and not have it... for sure...

I love being able to stay home with my daughter and would not change it for anything, but I did not realize how isolating it can be. I miss my career and "getting out", using my brain, doing things, being a part of a united group of great women; being asked to go for lunch, or to a movie and shopping, over to make dinner. Are there mom groups around here? Are you a part of a cool mommy group and would possibly like another mommy and kiddo to come to some activities!? Do you have a craft group? Do you have doggies and like to take walks?? Book club? Skiing (starting again after like a decade + of not....)?
Here is a little about me: (I feel like I am on Match.com or something).....yikes.....I will try to do this without sounding too trite....
Liberal political and religious views, educated, loves art/crafts (always doing something, sewing, jewelry making, painting..etc), love my dogs (and worthless, fat cat), would do anything for my family and friends, adore my husband and baby girl, very down-to-earth, non-judgmental (unless you mistreat kids or animals, don't recycle, or don't teach your kid manners), open to new things, friendly and easy to talk to, grew up in small Montana town, love the mountains and living in the West, my dream is to live on enough property to someday have a horse and be able to foster needy dogs, love to go to Portland and do the "city" thing (where we moved from and where all my best friends are), let my daughter watch PBS (too much on some days, you know those days...), like to cook and bake, love my crock-pot, like to go to Target and TJ Max by ----myself---just to walk around and "look", hate to admit it but watch Days of Our Lives (the fate of a stay-at-home mommy), love to garden and love to have pots full of flowers in the summer, always give homemade Christmas gifts, like to support local businesses, donate to good causes like Heifer International, always donate to the local food bank, learning how to can, love shoes and think winter scarfs are the bomb, want someone to teach my how to knit! Okay...that is just a little about me and the kind of person I am.......
